Forrest Festival, 2011

MOUNTAIN BIKERS AUSTRALIA wide are greasing their chains and lining their stomachs in anticipation of the 2011 Forrest Festival - a series of MTB races held over a two-day period, set against a festival backdrop of live music and parties in Forrest, Victoria.

The event is broken up into four stages - two time trials, a 15km cross-country race, a 50km marathon stage - and a Twilight Eliminator round open to the top 16 men and 16 women following round three. Held 5 - 8pm, the event will host riders competing in the Twilight Eliminator who will race for cash prizes on a fierce 90-second course, beginning and ending at the Forrest Brewery, to the cheers of spectators and the tunes of a live band.

All of the events will start and finish within a 600m radius of each other, and cover varied terrain including some of Forrest's most iconic trails and what the organisers describe as, "virtually every piece of singletrack in the northern end of Forrest."

The Festival is open to 300 participants, 300 spectators, and has already secured the entry of the current World Solo 24 Hour Champion's Jason English and Jessica Douglas, and other talented riders like Tory Thomas, Peta Mullens, Nelson Tilley and Becky Mates.
