Calling all film buffs

KEEN TO TEST OUT your filmmaking skills? Enter the third annual Cairns Adventure Film Festival. The showcase spreads out over two nights, and promises the best in adventure films from Australasian and local North Queensland film makers and sports enthusiasts.

The films featured in CAFF 2011 showcased a variety of sports; including whitewater kayaking, BASE jumping, and downhill mountain biking, all based across places like India, Laos, and China. This year's selection will be sure to display all sorts of adventure, with entries coming from most states in Australia and several from New Zealand.

Sound like your cup of tea? CAFF is inviting filmmakers and sports lovers to enter their work in a variety of categories, including Short Adventures in Nature, Caffeinated Adventures, The People's Choice Mad Minutes, Feature Length Adventures, and Adventurous by Nature Stills Photo competition, a new category designed for adventure sports photographers to also display their work.

"The event welcomes out-of-the-ordinary pastimes as long as they are respectful to the natural world and to the participants," says CAFF organizer Rebecca Scott. "Tests of human endurance, stamina, skill and courage shone through in the 2011 films, and we are excited about what the adventure sport community will produce for 2012."

Requirements vary for each category, and deadline for entries is in early April. This is Australia's only committed adventure and extreme sports film festival and competition, so don't miss out on your opportunity to share your adventure or simply revel in the works of others.
